Esther Hizsa

ASD team - EstherI completed SoulStream’s Art of Spiritual Direction in 2009 and have been offering spiritual direction since then. SoulStream sums up what spiritual direction means to me: “The simple gift of sacred Presence offered to another providing a gentle but tenacious encouragement to open fully to God’s loving Presence and to co-discern with that person God’s activity in every aspect of life.” Spiritual direction helps me listen to myself more courageously and compassionately and trust God’s love for me. In On Listening to Another, Douglas Steere, wrote, “To listen another’s soul into a condition of disclosure and discovery may be almost the greatest service that any human being performs for another.” Spiritual direction gives me the privilege of offering this great service.

I live in Burnaby with my husband, Fred. We have two children and two grandchildren. I received a Master of Divinity Degree from Regent College, Vancouver, B.C. (2005). In the past, I have worked as a nurse, youth and children’s pastor, and associate pastor. Now I offer spiritual direction, co-facilitate Living From The Heart (Lower Mainland) and write. I have two books – Stories of an Everyday Pilgrim (2015) and Seed Cracked Open (2019) and a blog An Everyday Pilgrim.
